Dan Tooker in the Morning was a breath of fresh air in country radio. Bucking tradition, they tackled diverse topics and Tooker even confessed his love for Top 40! The show gained national recognition for its charitable work and boasted a high-energy format with six open mics and frequent appearances by the hosts at separate events. Despite facing increased competition, DTIM delivered record ratings and revenue for KFDI, becoming a Kansas favorite that attracted A-list guests like Governor Sebelius and country music royalty. However, after a contract dispute and a triumphant CMA win, the show moved to Boise, Idaho. While initially successful, Tooker, sensing a shift in radio priorities, ultimately left due to industry changes and a decline in focus on results. Despite its end, Dan Tooker in the Morning left a lasting mark for its innovation and exceptional achievements.
